Dan Bettridge weaves an alternative spirit into the songs crafted in his rural cabin studio.
While a traditional singer-songwriter at heart, echoing influences of Americana, Soul, Rock & Folk, his output defies rigid classification. It is a compelling smorgasbord of styles larger than the sum of its parts. With measures of intimate poetry and narrative-based lyric writing, Bettridge delves deep into themes of love, politics, freedom and the complexity of the human condition.
Born and raised in a small seaside town in Wales, Bettridge has garnered critical acclaim in a relatively short time. He has toured with Band Of Horses and Jack Savoretti, performed at the famous Maida Vale Studios twice, once as Whispering Bob Harris’ ‘Favourite New Artist’, and played festivals throughout the UK, USA & Canada. In 2020 he was part of Bob Harris’s ‘All Stars’ project singing alongside Mark Knopfler, Rosanne Cash and Darius Rucker and premiering in Rolling Stone. 2021 then saw Bettridge release long-awaited new music with EP ‘Good People. Bad Habits.’, to critical acclaim and strong support from Apple Music and TIDAL. Dubbed Acoustic Guitar Magazine’s ‘Next Big Thing’, Bettridge’s live show is one not to be missed.
He is one of those artists who dances around the edge of the genre and I love that Americana can open its arms to this. His music paints landscapes and gives me a sense of escaping into a dream world.Stevie Smith, AMA-UK
